Original Item: Only One Available. Introduced in 1887 and officially designated as a haversack this canvas pouch was designed for carrying rations, field cutlery utensils and personal items, and was most commonly referred to as the breadbag. This example is of wartime heavy canvas construction and is presented without any extensive damage other than the expected staining on such a light color canvas.
There is oxidation present on all metal components which then “bled” over onto the material staining it with a bright orange rust color. All of the straps and buckles appear to be present other than a leather tab on the interior that looks to be missing.
A lovely field worn example ready for further research and display.
